veritas: "But there are many Mexicans in the United States legally, and many of those who aren’t still contribute to the US economy by earning money, spending it and often filling jobs others won’t." But the illegals don't pay income tax, as neither their employer or employee report the income to the IRS. No e-verify, fake SSN, etc. Moreover, by keeping in the shadows, the illegal man's wife and kids are eligible for US taxpayer funded welfare, basically existing as non-resident alien social parasites. The cost of Illegal immigrants is currently about $125 billion/yr and the illegals pay $25B/yr in sales tax and renter generated property tax. So there is a deficit of $100 billion/yr, and the US taxpayer pays it. 75% of this cost goes to the States, 25% to the federal government. While the federal government borrows to cover out of control spending, many states have balanced budget laws. In some states the NET cost of illegals on the state budget is 10 billion a year. That's a lot of taxpayer money.
