Russell: If anyone has hindered the attacks on ISIS, it was Obama himself. I understand that Bush fueled Muslim resentment towards the west with the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and I was sharply critical of both Bush and his pick for VP. I felt then and still do that Cheney was the dominant influence on the Bush admin, and no doubt there was some graft going in through Haliburton. But organized muslim terrorist groups existed long before Bush was elected, and Hussein was a proven threat to the stability of the region. True, it was proven that he was NOT developing nukes, but evidence of the chemical weapons research and stockpiling was there. intelligence revealed that the chemical nerve gas was moved into Syria just prior to the invasion in '03, with Syria a close Iraqi ally against the persians and other Arab states. While I approve of Obama's continued usage of drone strikes against the terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, his decision to abandon Iraq to the terrorists by pulling out early spelled the doom or any hope of stability to the region. Now, the radical Muslims are stronger than ever, and are waging small scale jihad throughout Europe and soon will spread here to North America before too long. Iraq could have gone the course and become a strong Western ally, just like Germany, Japan, and South Korea with a strong, lasting American martial presence there. Instead, it's in chaos and radical Islam is on the rise all over the world.
