People from across America gathered in Washington Monday morning in anticipation of the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. (Jan. 21)
Juan McStain: Tim Kaine is not just a corrupt ex-Senator who received free clothes, furniture and other gifts from elite donors, but it appears that that there is a shocking reason that liberals are abandoning Hillary in droves: Kaine’s record and his statements are wildly out of sync with Bernie Sanders and liberal politics: 1. Kaine signed two letters this past Monday urging federal regulators to go easy on big banks ― one to help big banks dodge risk management rules, and another to help small banks avoid consumer protection standards. The big bank letter would help major firms including Capital One, PNC Bank and U.S. Bank, all of which control hundreds of billions of dollars in customer assets. 2. Kaine, is setting himself up as a figure willing to do battle with the progressive wing of the democrat party. He has championed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal that both Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren claim to oppose, and he is now publicly siding with bank deregulation advocates at the height of Clinton’s flailing campaign. 3. Kaine pledged in his 2005 gubernatorial campaign to reduce the number of terminated pregnancies in Virginia by promoting adoption and abstinence-focused education. That cycle, the state NARAL chapter ripped Kaine’s and withheld its endorsement of Kaine because he “embraces many of the restrictions on a woman’s right to choose.” Two years later, Kaine upset both local and national reproductive rights groups by signing a law that authorized the sale of customized “Choose Life” license plates. Kaine's critics complained that the law would fund pro-life organizations.
