FBI Director Robert Mueller is defending the government's collection of millions of U.S. phone records, emails and other online information as vital to the nation's security. He made the comments at a hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday. (June 13)
Glimmer: I left the Republican party some time ago, not to join the democrats, but, it was because the republicans went in a direction that is ultimately a dead end. The party is simply intolerant and unwilling to compromise on anything. They want to take this country back 50 years. To a time when gay people were in the closet, woman had no reproductive rights and political incorrectness was a code word for subtle racism. The Republicans are simply unwilling to accept this country has drifted to the left. The party is unwilling to accept that there are going to be more minorities than white people in a few years. That there will be no mass deportations. That we live in a global marketplace where we simply can't dominate the world economy. That military intervention in foreign lands leads to unending conflict that drains our resources. That basic health care access is something all citizens should enjoy. That simply being an American does not guarantee you a life long job with excellent pay and security. Oh, I could go on about Democrats, but, Republicans are so detached from the irreversible changes that have occurred that it seems their party is trying to create a reality that the world has left behind.
