Daily Digit: What are Americans’ views on homosexuality?

Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world work. Today we’re looking at homosexuality in America. According to a study by the Pew Research Center, 70% of Americans believe homosexuality should be accepted by society. This is up from just 46% in 1994. And 62% believe gay people should be able to legally marry, the study found. While acceptance varies slightly by demographics, the gap is much larger when political affiliation is considered. Age strongly correlates with support, with younger generations more tolerant than people over 50. Because of this, experts expect the trend of increasing acceptance to continue.
