MichaelC: I don't believe for one second that Donald Rumsfeld's endorsement of Trump is genuine. Rumsfeld explicitly states in the above interview that he believes that the world is better off without Saddam Hussein, whereas Trump has stated virtually the opposite point of view (even going so far as to erroneously claim that Saddam was good at killing terrorists). That indicates a pretty big gap in how both men view the world. Given the Bush family's friendly relations with the Clintons, it wouldn't surprise me if Rumsfeld was asked someone to make a public endorsement of Trump in order to taint his "brand" with the toxic reputation of President George W. Bush's administration.
