Is This Bridge On The Verge Of Collapse?
Thousands of commuters were stopped cold on Lake Shore Drive Tuesday evening as a mile-long backup formed from North Avenue Beach South to Soldier Field. The exit and entrance ramps from and onto Lake Shore Drive at LaSalle/North Avenue were shut down because of concrete chunks giving way from the overpass and into LaSalle Drive below. No vehicles were hit and no one was injured as the concrete fell and drivers called it into 911 just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
