Bangla War Crimes Trial: Eminent economist presses for early

Eminent Bangladeshi economist, chairman and rector of the Dhaka School of Economics, Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmed has pressed for a speedy conclusion of the war crimes trial. Ahmed denounced all those people who resorted to violence and strikes with an aim to prevent the trial reaching its logical conclusion. Ahmed also hailed the contribution of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman , who played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's struggle for independence. A war crimes tribunal, which was set up in 2010, requires wrapping up investigations of all those who were accused, as the government aims to finish their trials before Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's five-year term ends. She took charge of office in early 2009.
