Families of the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting victims are outraged, after they were invited to the theater's re-opening. The January 17th event includes what's described as an "evening of remembrance" and a movie. (Jan. 3)
My Point Of View: If you think Trump has been a brilliant businessman and therefore would be a great POTUS, think again. His lawsuits say so much about him. How about sharing your tax returns with us??? 1. SHADY STOCK PURCHASE The US, 1988: The U.S. Department of Justice sued Trump for an antitrust violation and won! He had to fork over $750,000 (a large sum for 1988). The penalty was from his attempted takeover of two companies. His stock purchases in those companies violated the FTC requirements. 2. TRUMP ACCUSED OF CHEATING UNION WORKERS Harry Diduck and Joseph Hardy of the Local 95 pension fund claimed that Trump had swindled union workers out of $300,000 by secretly employing non-union workers to build Trump Towers. After years of litigation that included a bench trial, the case was finally closed in 1999. No one knows the details of the settlement agreement as it is sealed. 3. DONALD TRUMP'S THIN ORANGE SKIN In 1984, Trump sued a Chicago Tribune architecture critic after he criticized Trump’s plan to build a skyscraper in lower Manhattan. Trump sued the critic and the Tribune for $500 million. The case was later thrown out of court. 4. JUST MONKEYIN' AROUND In 2013 The Donald filed a lawsuit against liberal comedian Bill Maher for $5 million. Maher joked that he would "donate $5 million to charity if Trump could prove that he isn't the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan". Trump later dropped the lawsuit. 5. TRUMP'S SUPER HUGE EGO Trump Hotels and Casinos: Launched in 1995, immediately began having trouble in 1996. The Rank Group of the Hard Rock chain wanted to invest and take over 50% of the Trump Taj Mahal, with one stipulation: it had to be renamed the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Trump refused and they pulled out. The stock continued to plummet and investors lost millions of dollars. 6. THE AFTERMATH OF HIS EGO One of the biggest lawsuit vs The Donald occurred when Trump Taj Mahal had to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy from creditors. The Taj had amassed about $3 billion in debt in just one year! 7. DONALD TRUMP THE BULLY In 2006, Trump sued Tim O’Brien the author of the book, "TrumpNation". Trump sued O'Brien for $5 billion for suggesting that he was worth less than Trump claimed. The appeals court sided with O’Brien. 8. THE BIZARRE CASE OF MISSING PANTIES His ex-wife’s (Marla Maples) assistant sued them both on allegations of nude photos leaked to the tabloids and “panty stealing.” The case was thrown out of court in 2003. 9. TRUMP'S FIRST LAWSUIT So it begins. The US Government sues Trump Management in federal court. The Government claimed that Trump Management discriminated in its rental policies and practice based on race and color. The Government believed that Trump Management refused to rent its NYC apartments to minorities. Trump's then business partner filed a counter-claim against the government for defamation. The suit was settled in 1975. 10. PHONY BOLONEY In 2013 Trump was sued by the Attorney General of New York for $40 million. The State AG claims that Trump ran a phony University where students didn't obtain degrees, they just paid fees. Trump University allegedly steered students to online seminars that didn't amount to much. This suit is still being tried. 11. THE REAL VICTIM A college student, filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump and Trump University. The student claimed the University was a hoax. The claim stated that the University was nothing more than a series of seminars that amounted to nothing more than poorly produced infomercials. Trump's name was dropped from the lawsuit, however the plaintiff was awarded over $750,000! 12. SUED FOR RACIST COMMENTS Lopez De Victoria and Rafael Oliveras claimed: “Candidate Donald Trump publicly disgraced and discriminated against Hispanics by wholesale comparing them with murderers, rapists and known gang members.” They wanted him barred from running for President. Yeah, we wish.... 13. ANGRY AT THE WORLD Trump sued the town of Palm Beach three different times. First it was $100 million because of the membership club Mar-A-Lago. Then it was the local airport for noise violations. Then it was the town for fining him for putting up an American flag. He tried to make them pay $25 million over that. 14. TWENTY-ONE LAWSUITS IN 1 YEAR Trump was a defendant in 21 different lawsuits. Individuals and companies were suing him left and right for contract violations and securities fraud. 15. BUSINESS PARTNERS BEWARE Trump sued his partner in the Grand Hyatt hotel in New York City. He filed a civil racketeering suit against Jay Pritzker, a financier. 16. THE MERE THREAT Before he dropped out of the race, Ted Cruz had a surge in the polls and was doing better than Trump in some primary campaigns. Trump, of course, threatened to sue him. 17. NO TRUMP'S WELCOMED In 2005, some of Trump’s real estate partners decided to sell and use profits to purchase two skyscrapers that didn’t have the Trump name. Trump sued his partners to block it. Trump came out richer in the end as he won this suit.
