The Supreme Court's hearing on the Defense of Marriage Act has ended after nearly two hours.
Fed up: So it's clear that America doesn't like either Trump or Hillary. I say that because several polls show them BOTH with the highest unfavorable rating in history. So can left, center and right agree on this point? So most of America would prefer a different choice. Since we're stuck with dumb and dumber (I'll let you decide which is which based on your own personal preferences), what can we do? I've NEVER been a one issue voter. I've NEVER voted AGAINST someone, rather FOR someone. But here we are....how do we decide? The candidates seem to be putting most of their efforts into scaring the other side out of voting for their person rather than promoting THEIR OWN ideas for this country and for ALL OF US!!! For me, it comes down to the Supreme Court. That is the defining issue for me in this election. I want a balanced Court, not a one sided Court. It doesn't matter WHICH side is out of balance, just that it's balanced. I want a Supreme Court that weighs the arguments based on what the Founding Fathers set forth. Their initial concepts are the bedrock of our country. If we use this foundation and build ON it then we will have a country they envisioned...a free, lawful society. What I DON'T want is a Court that looks to make laws or interpret laws relative to today's society. A Court that interprets the intent of the Constitution in order to make it fit our current lifestyle and claim the Founding Fathers couldn't foresee this change. What I DON'T want is a Court that looks at everything in black and white and says the Constitution doesn't specifically address that issue therefore your law is struck down. Should changes need to be made to our Constitution or our laws to reflect a different or more enlightened citizenry, there are processes and procedures to get that done without having a Supreme Court make the social change loosely based on the Constitution by legislating from the Bench. And without the Supreme Court being so rigid as to exclude people and their rights simply because it's not LITERALLY addressed by the Constitution. Too far Right and too far Left is a bad thing...for EVERYONE! After that, the immigration things is simply a matter of ENFORCEMENT or NON-ENFORCEMENT of the existing laws.
