Cole: No. Candy Crowley tried to fact check Romney a debate leading up to the 2012 election and she didn't have her facts straight. As it turned out, Romney was correct, Obama was wrong, Crowley was wrong, but the damage had already been done. People watch the debates and unless they are one of the few that follows the news they won't run across a story that rectifies the situation. The damage was done and irreversible. Moderators are there to ask their questions, keep people on time, and (if they do their jobs correctly) keep candidates from talking over one another. That is it.
