2017 Word of the Year: Readers react
“Wow - 1972 wants its word of the year back.” “At least it’s a real word and it’s not things like ‘shade’ or ‘slays’ or some other stupid millennial term.” Yahoo Newsroom readers share their thoughts on Merriam-Webster’s word of the year, “feminism.” “Feminism” has been in the top 10 for the past few years. According to Merriam-Webster, it’s been a big year for the word. Lookups for “feminism” increased 70 percent and spiked several times after key events.
