Video: Wildflowers bloom on Fiesta Island

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The wildflowers on Fiesta Island are blooming as spring nears.

The colorful spectacle offers photo and video opportunities to all who venture to the popular beach destination located off Mission Bay.

FOX 5/KUSI videographer Aaron Eudaley captured drone footage of the breathtaking field of yellow wildflowers in the video player above.

Another spot to catch a wildflower bloom in San Diego County is at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Hundreds of flowering species can be found in Southern California’s desert lands such as primrose, phacelia and wooly sunflower, according to the Anza-Borrego Foundation.

Last year, a series of atmospheric rivers dumped heavy rain, causing more wildflowers to sprout on Fiesta Island.

The Golden State has endured yet another year of wet weather in 2024, with California State Parks managers in the southern part of the state predicting that this spring is shaping up to be another stunning super bloom.

Remember to respect the vegetation if you are going to take photos of the beautiful plants.

Fiesta Island is open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
