Video: Truck careens off road, narrowly misses ice cream shop, parked cars

No injuries were reported when a pickup careened off a Massachusetts roadway Sunday, taking out a sign and landscaping of an ice cream shop before crashing into a fence. The crash happened at Chevy’s Ice Cream on Pulaski Boulevard in Bellingham at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. A surveillance video shows a red Ford work truck drive off Pulaski Boulevard at a high rate of speed, narrowly missing a utility pole, hitting a sign before crashing into a fence, almost hitting a parked SUV. The shop was not open at the time of the crash.

The top vehicle safety regulator in the U.S. has launched a formal probe into an April crash involving the all-electric VinFast VF8 SUV that claimed the lives of a family of four, TechCrunch has learned. A spokesperson for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) told TechCrunch on Monday that its Special Crash Investigations division will "document the crash circumstances and the ensuing fire." The victims, who have been identified by the Alameda County Sheriff's Department as Tarun and Rincy George, and their two children, did not own the vehicle.

A new self-driving truck — manufactured by Volvo and loaded with autonomous vehicle tech developed by Aurora Innovation — could be on public highways as early as this summer.
