Video shows wild arrest atop a van on a Detroit interstate

Helicopter video shows a dramatic Detroit police takedown of a homicide suspect Friday afternoon. Officers chased him on foot into oncoming traffic on I-75, where he jumped onto — or more or less was hit by — a van, then surrounded by police and pummeled.

The takedown followed a chase through Detroit, down several highways and on surface streets downtown. When the suspect's SUV had a flat tire, he bailed from his car and took off on foot, jumping the median and running into oncoming traffic, with officers dodging cars, too.

When he wound up atop the van, one officer climbed up there and threw him off into the crowd of waiting officers.
