Video shows man burning items in Pulse memorial, foundation seeks help finding him

Black-and-white surveillance video shows a man last month set fire to some items in the Pulse nightclub memorial that honors the 49 killed in the 2016 shooting massacre.

The One Pulse Foundation wants the public’s help finding the man who damaged the memorial, which sits on the site of the former Pulse night club on Orange Avenue south of downtown Orlando.

On Oct. 12 at about 8:30 p.m. a man using a wheelchair entered the outdoor memorial, appeared to start a small fire and then left, according to surveillance video the foundation posted on its Facebook page Saturday.

In its Facebook post, the foundation asked anyone who could identify the man to contact the Orlando Police Department.

The foundation said the fire damaged the “offering wall” and burned three “angel banners,” among other items.

Since the June 12, 2016 shootings, the Pulse site has served as a memorial and gathering place for those looking to pay tribute to 49 shot by a gunman who stormed into the club. The foundation plans a more permanent memorial and museum.
