Video shows dramatic Mt. Tam helicopter ravine rescue

(KRON) — Video from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies conducting a dramatic rescue on the west side of Mount Tamalpais Wednesday. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Henry-1 helicopter responded at around 6:05 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a vehicle 200 feet down in a ravine.

Why don’t police do more to stop sideshows? Here’s what the CHP said.

Henry-1 arrived on scene, but due to large trees in the area, it was unable to land in the ravine. The helicopter was configured for a 200-foot-long line rescue. The SCSO’s tactical flight officer, a sheriff’s paramedic, and a tactical flight officer with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office were flown to the vehicle.

Fire personnel, according to officials, had already climbed down to the victim to assist her with her injuries. First responders loaded the victim into the “hot seat” rescue device and flew her to a nearby ambulance.

The Henry-1 tactical officer was then flown back to the vehicle where fire personnel were retrieved and flown back to the road. Wednesday’s rescue follows another recent dramatic rescue involving Henry-1 in which a man who fell off a cliff was rescued from a gravel rock face.
