New video shown in day five of TikTok star’s double murder trial

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Former TikTok Star, Ali Abulaban, who went by the username Jinnkid, is standing trial, accused of killing his wife and a friend amid a rocky end to a violent marriage.

In court Monday, marking day five of the double murder trial, the jury heard audio of Abulaban allegedly confessing to his mother over the phone that he had just shot and killed his wife, Ana Abulaban.

The defense played several videos that break down the timeline of October 21, 2021.

A mixture of surveillance video from the apartment complex, and a Next camera from a neighbor, captured various events throughout that day.

The video shows Ali entering into the apartment after 9 a.m. that day. We later learned he had trashed the apartment, threw a pumpkin and flowers on the ground, and installed a listening device on his daughter’s iPad, plugged it in and hid it behind the bed in the primary bedroom.

Later that day, Ana Abulaban and Rayburn Barron were seen on surveillance video going back into the apartment complex. Around 2:50 p.m. that day, Ali was seen on video going into the parking garage and up the elevator to the 35th floor.

Once on the 35th floor, a neighbor’s security camera captured the audio of Ali opening the door to the apartment, the door shutting, and within 3 seconds, gunshots. Between six gunshots, you can hear Ana screaming.

After the sixth shot, Ali is heard yelling, “Ana!” “Ana!” several times. Moments later he was seen on-camera in the hallway, talking to his mom, confessing that he had just shot and killed Ana.

A longtime friend of Ana’s took the stand Monday, claiming the violent acts millions of people saw on TikTok weren’t just an act. She claimed that violent demeanor was real, even years before he rose to TikTok stardom.

“This whole Scarface act was very common back then as well, he just always had to be better than everybody else in the room,” Alexandria Black testified on the stand.

Black grew up with Ana Abulaban in Japan, and was close with Ana when her and Ali began dating, and said she saw Ali be violent with Ana in 2015, before their move to Virginia and then San Diego.

“I just couldn’t stand being around him, he made everyone in the room feel uncomfortable, just very physical and verbal,” Black continued.

The prosecution called several police officers and crime scene investigators to the stand Monday.

The prosecution has a few more witnesses, but is expected to rest their case this week. The defense is expected to begin calling witnesses to the stand next week, and Ali Abulaban is  expected to testify in his own defense.
