Former Chicago Bears kick returner Devin Hester announced that he will likely be retiring this year. The news broke after his Seahawks lost to the Falcons in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs. Barring a change of heart, his legendary 11-year career will be coming to an end. Hester, now 34, is best known for his eight-year stint with the Bears, in which he reached the Pro Bowl three times.

Hester’s career started off with a bang: he had five total returns for touchdowns in his rookie year. He would go on to return 20 kicks to the end zone, which is an all-time record. None of those, however, are more legendary than the clip I’m about to show you.

Awards: cover32’s end-of-season awards

Most Bears fans remember this moment, and rightfully so – it was one of the greatest moments in the team’s history. It was the start of Super Bowl XLI, and the Bears were playing in their first Super Bowl since their win in 1985. Sadly for us, it was also the last time they’ve been in the game. Nonetheless, it was an exciting time for all of Chicago.

The Indianapolis Colts, the Bears’ opponent in the game, elected to kick off to start the game. That was a mistake.

Hester took the kick back for a 92-yard touchdown. Thanks to him, the Bears were on the board 14 seconds into the game. Although they ended up losing, it still was an amazing moment. You can check out Hester’s blazing speed on display in the video below:

Thanks for the memories, Devin Hester. You were ridiculous.
