SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A person vandalized an autonomous Waymo vehicle in San Francisco on Saturday, video obtained by Nexstar’s KRON shows.

The driverless Waymo car was in the area of Market and Dolores streets when video captured an unknown individual trashing the vehicle.

The video, which can be viewed in the media player above, shows the person stomping the front windshield in an attempt to break it open. The windshield was shattered and damaged significantly.

The Waymo car was put to a stop in the middle of the road as cars were seen continuing to pass by. According to the video, it appears that the incident prompted the Waymo’s emergency blinkers to go on.

This isn’t the first time a Waymo vehicle was vandalized in San Francisco this year. During a Lunar New Year celebration in February, someone broke the window of a Waymo car in Chinatown and threw fireworks inside of it — causing the vehicle to be set on fire.

Last week, a 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with setting the Waymo vehicle on fire.

KRON reached out to the San Francisco Police Department and Waymo for comment on Saturday’s incident but did not hear back in time for publication.
