Child, teen killed in multi-vehicle crash on I-90: EMS

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Authorities were at the scene of a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 90 West Monday.

Cleveland EMS confirmed to FOX 8 News that a child and a teen were killed in the crash.

Cleveland police officers responded to the scene just after noon, according to a spokesperson.

The Ohio Department of Transportation just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, reported the right three lanes of I-90 West were blocked at West 98th Street/West Boulevard. All lanes were closed soon after.

The roadway was expected to stay closed while the crash was being investigated, according to the police spokesperson. Motorists were urged to avoid the area.

Earlier Monday, the roadway was closed at the Lorain Avenue exit, but open after West Boulevard, Cleveland Division of Fire Lt. Mike Norman told FOX 8 News.

The closure lasted several hours. ODOT reported I-90 West reopened at Lorain Avenue just before 5 p.m.
