Video: Jeffco deputies rescue pup trapped under metal gate

DENVER (KDVR) — If you are looking for your good news of the week, this story out of Jefferson County has a happy ending.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tweeted about a situation from earlier this week where a dog got trapped under a metal gate.

According to deputies, the poor pup got its collar tangled in the fence trying to retrieve a toy. The dog tried to free herself but ended up passing out from exhaustion.

While the video can be hard to watch, the pup was ultimately rescued by some quick-acting deputies.

The deputies were able to cut off the dog’s collar and free her.

“Despite some facial and foot injuries, the puppy wagged her tail and showed gratitude for the deputies’ kindness,” said the sheriff’s office in the tweet.

The pup was seen by a vet and then sent home to be reunited with her owner.

While the sheriff’s office acknowledges this was a freak accident with a happy ending, deputies remind all pet owners to check for potential hazards because our furry friends depend on us to keep them safe.
