Video: Game-winning half-court buzzer beater waved off due to clock mistake

The Shot That Didn't Count - Jarren Frade (Bristol-Plymouth, MA)
Last week Jarren Frade made one of the most incredible game-winning shots you've ever seen — but his team lost the game.

With a second left on the clock Frade, a senior at Bristol-Plymouth RVT (Taunton, Mass.), caught the inbounds pass a few feet shy of half-court, turned and fired a line-drive one-hander toward the basket.

The shot went straight through the basket, sending the Craftsmen faithful (including the particularly enthusiastic woman who caught the moment on film) into an uproar. Frade's father can be seen at the end of the video asking if the camera was rolling during the shot.

The players celebrated near the scoreboard operator, not realizing that there was one major problem — the clock had never started.

As you can see in the video, well after the shot goes in the game clock still reads one second.

According to reports, the refs conferred and determined that the shot was not released in less than a second, and gave the win to visiting Southeastern RVT (South Easton, Mass.).

Manny Cabral, who posted the video, is just one Bristol Plymouth Tech fan who is not happy about the decision.

"As you can see it definitely was let off before a second," he said. "I timed it and everything. The kid deserves the credit."

Some might argue that after the clock malfunction the refs should have put a second back on the clock and let the Craftsmen inbound the ball again, though the likelihood of another miracle shot was pretty slim.

Either way, Bristol Plymouth Tech walked away with a loss and Jarren Frade will be remembered for hitting high school basketball's most incredible game-winning shot that never was.
