Gov. Larry Hogan signed seven bills into law Tuesday, and the one getting the most attention bans fracking in Maryland. The governor got on board late supporting a ban, but he acted swiftly to sign the bill into law just a week after legislators sent it to him. Opponents of fracking cite studies that raise health and environmental concerns. The governor took note and even praised Sen. Bobby Zirkin for bringing it to his and his staff's attention at one point over a beer at a Ravens game. Hogan is the first Republican governor to ban fracking.
