(KRON) – Multiple sideshows occurred in Oakland early Sunday morning, according to the Oakland Police Department. At least two cars were seen engulfed in flames during the sideshows.

Around the 11:10 mark of the video above, the two cars on fire are seen blocking traffic. As cars were doing donuts, fireworks were shot off into the sky, which can be seen around the two-minute mark of the video.

OPD was alerted to multiple sideshows with spectators at various locations around 2 a.m. on Sunday, the department said. The sideshows happened in the areas of Claremont Avenue and College Avenue, Alcatraz Avenue and Telegraph Avenue, and the 1200 block of Derby Avenue and the 700 block of Mandela Parkway.

A police barricade was set up in the area of Bond and High streets. A white Infiniti sedan rammed into and drove past the multiple OPD vehicles serving as a barricade.

Multiple people were detained in connection to the sideshows, KRON4 has confirmed. At this time, it is unknown exactly how many were taken into custody.

According to Oakland PD, gunshots were reported at many of the illegal sideshow locations. The vehicles and spectators dispersed as officers arrived on the scene.

Oakland PD announced Monday that it issued 52 citations, towed 21 vehicles and made three arrests during sideshow activity early Sunday.

“This weekend, OPD will be collaborating with our law enforcement partners to deploy additional resources on the streets to enforce illegal sideshow activities,” the agency said on X, formerly Twitter.
