Because the world will never tire of policing women's faces, Victoria Beckham's appearance at the Royal Wedding last Saturday led some viewers to ask why she wasn't smiling. Today, Beckham responded to the criticism with a characteristically classy (and low-key hilarious) Instagram post.

"When you’re smiling on the inside 😂😂😂 " she wrote, alongside a snap of herself wearing a sweatshirt from her own collection that reads "It's a dark but happy place". Haters gonna hate, honestly.

Beckham has made it abundantly clear that she had an amazing time at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “It was such a beautiful, incredible wedding," she said this week. "It was just the best day. They looked so happy, and everybody was just so happy for them. Meghan seems like a genuinely lovely woman, who really loves him. It felt very real, very honest.” She also had high praise for the Duchess of Sussex's custom Givenchy wedding dress: "I thought she looked absolutely beautiful," Beckham said. "It really suited her. I thought it was perfect for her. And Harry looked great."

Beckham wore one of her own designs to the wedding; a caped navy dress that bore a strong resemblance to the one she wore for Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials in 2011. The difference? "Quite honestly, it was such a relief not to be hugely pregnant at this royal wedding that it was a joy to be able to choose anything I wanted to wear," Beckham joked, explaining that she was seven months pregnant at William and Kate's wedding.

It was reported back in February that Markle had befriended Beckham after moving to London to live with Harry, and was picking her brains on assembling a working wardrobe because she admired her style.
