Victim of Sacramento shooting near SacRT light rail station identified

(FOX40.COM) — The person who died after a shooting that injured two others near the University/65th Street light rail station on Thursday has been identified.

According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the man who was killed was 25-year-old Levell Murphy.

On Thursday, the Sacramento Police Department said its officers found a man with a gunshot wound near the area of Q and 65th Streets, which is close to SacRT’s station that services the Gold Line and several bus routes. The man was declared dead at the site, police said.

The shooting also injured a man and a woman who were later taken to a hospital.

Two suspects connected to the shooting, described as Black men wearing hoodies and jeans, fled the scene and were potentially armed, police said. They have yet to be detained.

City police and Sacramento State Police also said a car that was reportedly stolen near the shooting’s location was connected to the shooting.
