MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One of the victims from Saturday night’s shooting at Orange Mound Park has been identified as 22-year-old Chalmar Fason.

9 shot, 2 killed at Orange Mound Park in Memphis

Chalmar’s mother Jennifer Fason spoke with WREG on Sunday and shared an important warning for parents everywhere.

“If you don’t know where your kids are, keep in contact,” Jennifer Fason said. “Because it hurts when you lose them, it hurts bad.”

Chalmar’s loved ones told WREG that he was killed during a block party in Orange Mound. He was one of two people who died.

Seven others were injured, but police say they are all in stable condition.

His brother Penny Norris does not think Chalmar was the target and that people from other areas were the ones who caused the problems that led to the mass shooting.

“I don’t want nobody to make our hood look different or anything,” Norris said. “The first and second times we had block parties, none of this happened. That’s how you know it was outsiders.”

On Sunday, police announced that the reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible has been increased to $15,000.
