Victim identified in drowning at O.J. Watson Park

Updated to clarify the spelling of the victim’s name

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department has identified the man who drowned at O.J. Watson Park.

Austin Pedersen was pulled from O.J. Watson Park on Sunday afternoon around 12:57 p.m.

The WPD, Sedgwick County EMS, and the Wichita Fire Department responded to the scene.

The WFD took over and sent divers in to find Pedersen. He was pulled from the water about an hour later and transported to the hospital, police said. He was pronounced dead at 2:33 p.m.
