The names of the two people killed in Tuesday's murder-suicide at Baptist Medical Center have been announced as married couple, Cecil Ivey, 95, and Loyce Ivey, 92.

The announcement was made by Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart.

At 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Cecil, was in his wife's room where she was staying as a patient and shot her. He then entered another room and shot himself. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Loyce was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and was reported to be in critical condition. She was pronounced dead Wednesday.

Baptist Medical Center's spokeswoman, Kim Alexander, said she wasn't sure how or when the husband entered the hospital with the gun. She also confirmed that the hospital does not have metal detectors.

"We do not have metal detectors at this facility," Alexander said in an email. "However, we exclusively hire law enforcement and trained and military professionals for security positions. Our security team is armed and trained according to the State of Mississippi Minimum Standards on both pistols (quarterly training) and yearly TASER training. All security officers are certified in Building Emergency Response Teams (BERT) training, the Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and have received active shooter training. Other security measures include regular patrols, an enhanced lighting program, upgraded security cameras, security escorts for patients and staff and collaboration with local law enforcement,"

Both the Capitol Police and the Mississippi Department of Public safety are investigating.
