Veterans now have access to Tele-Emergency Care service

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center announced on Tuesday the launch of a Tele-Emergency Care service.

The VA says the service offers immediate access to medical assistance with no co-payment. Patients can dial 888-878-6881, then press 3 to connect with a health care provider 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Nurses and providers can access condition needs.

The conditions that can be managed virtually through the VA include the following:

  • Cough, cold, flu and COVID symptoms

  • Sore throat

  • COPD and asthma flares

  • Eye redness & irritation

  • Tick and other insect bites

  • Rashes

  • Skin infections

  • Minor allergic reactions

  • GI illness

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Gout flares

  • Muscle sprains/strains
