Veterans Administration hosts healthcare enrollment fair at Johnstown outpatient clinic
JOHNSTOWN ― Veterans who have not yet enrolled in VA healthcare are invited to attend an enrollment fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the James E. Van Zandt Veterans Outpatient Clinic, 598 Galleria Drive.
At the fair, enrollment specialists, Veteran Service Officers and Veteran Benefits Administration representatives will assist veterans in enrolling in VA healthcare and filing service-oriented disability claims. Veterans who want to apply for VA healthcare should bring their DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty and insurance information with them and talk to the center's enrollment and eligibility team.
In addition, veterans whose service falls under the new Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxins (PACT) Act of 2022 expansion are encouraged to attend the enrollment fair and apply for VA care. Those include veterans who served in Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan and those who deployed to support contingency operations for the Global War on Terror. With this expansion, millions of eligible veterans can enroll directly in VA care without the need to first apply for VA benefits.

This is the first of three large enrollment fairs the Veterans Administration has planned for this summer, and the only one being held on a Saturday for those who cannot attend during the week. Smaller outreach events at local veteran organizations are also planned; more information on those events can be found on the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center's Facebook page.
The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center and its five community outpatient clinics provide care to 29,000 veterans in a 14-county area, including Somerset.
