New version of the best Android phone in the world leaks

The HTC One (M8) is one of the best phones of the year so far – the phone that changed everything again, according to BGR’s thorough review – but it won’t be HTC’s only smartphone part of the One family this year. The company is expected to soon launch an HTC One mini 2 device, a slightly smaller and cheaper version of its top handset.

After leaking specs for the device a few months ago, @evleaks is now back with alleged press renders for the HTC One mini 2. The leaker, who has an accurate track record reporting on unreleased mobile devices, has published an image that suggests the One mini 2 will not pack he Duo Camera found on the HTC One (M8), but that it will be available in three versions, including black, white and gold.

The HTC One mini 2 is expected to pack a 4.5-inch display with 720p resolution, a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, microSD support, 13-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board with HTC Sense 6.0 on top.

The phone is also said to have on-screen buttons, and the press renders suggest the HTC One mini 2 will also have the same dual speakers found on other HTC One devices.

It’s not clear though when the HTC One mini 2 will be launched.

HTC is also rumored to work on an all-plastic HTC One (M8) flagship that will target the Galaxy S5, but also on an HTC M8 Prime version that would supposedly compete against the rumored Galaxy S5 Prime model.

The HTC One mini 2 press render follows below.
