Verizon Wireless visits Fort Jackson on job search

FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- A group of Verizon Wireless employees is visiting Fort Jackson to help military men and women who are leaving the ranks and need help in their job search.

Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Margee Herring says Thursday's visit to the training installation outside Columbia is meant to help the military personnel with resumes, learning how to network and use support organizations in a job search.

The Verizon employees also are attending the graduation of soldiers after basic combat training, are viewing soldiers' infantry training and other training exercises.

Herring says the work of the group, known as Verizon's talent acquisition team, is part of the company's commitment to recruit military veterans for its sales, customer service, technology and supply chain teams.
