Verizon to launch $50 BlackBerry Curve 9310 July 12th

RIM is throwing a bone to some of its loyal American fans who don’t want to wait until next year to get a new smartphone. The company on Tuesday said that Verizon will start selling the new BlackBerry Curve 9310 on July 12th for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate on a two-year service agreement. The new device is rather weak in the specs department, featuring a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 2.44-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and the BlackBerry 7.1 operating system. Even so, it’s been a long time since RIM fans in the U.S. have seen a new product announced so this will have to tide them over until BlackBerry 10 devices start dropping this coming winter.
