President Joe Biden poked fun of high-profile Fox News anchors and personalities promoting coronavirus vaccines on their network.

"As they say in the southern part of my state, they've had an altar call, some of these guys. All of a sudden, they're out there saying, 'Let's get vaccinated,'" Biden said Wednesday during a televised town hall.

The president then checked himself, admitting he "shouldn't make fun" of the news outlet.

"You just have to keep telling the truth," he said of his COVID-19 vaccination push.

This week, Fox News's Sean Hannity implored viewers of his prime-time show to take the virus "seriously," saying he believed in the science of the shots.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki equivocated this week when asked whether legendary quarterback Tom Brady was helping Biden with a vaccination public service announcement. Brady visited the White House on Tuesday to celebrate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl LV win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February.

But the president was less coy during the event staged in Ohio on Wednesday.

“What we're doing is getting people of consequence, who are respected in the community, whether they’re athletes, whether or not they are entertainers, whether they're just well respected by their roommates," he said.

Vaccination rates nationwide are plateauing after Biden fell short of his self-imposed target to administer at least one jab to 70% of adults by July 4.
