VBPD K9 receives armored vest from nonprofit

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police Department’s (VBPD) K9 Amos is suited for the job.

The dog will be outfitted with a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

K9 Amos’ vest is sponsored by John and Molly Shirk of Redmond, Washington. The vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”

VBPD said the vest is expected to arrive within eight to ten weeks.

According to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a single donation of $985 will sponsor one vest. However, the nonprofit accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount.
