VB public schools ranks top 10 in best cities for teachers

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach has ranked in the top 10 in a new study on which cities teachers are the happiest, according to a study done by Preply.

Virginia Beach public schools ranks eighth overall, and fifth for mid-sized cities. The coastal city has an average 95.2% graduation rate, and teachers receive a $500 educator expenses deduction. Virginia beach public schools have the second-highest community rating among mid-size cities.

For overall cities, Boston, MA, ranks at No. 1 with an index score of 103.16. Virginia Beach’s average teacher salary is just under 38,000, putting it at the lower end of the cities listed in the study. However, they do have one of the highest graduation rates and a high score for community support.
