DC’s cherry blossoms hit second-earliest peak bloom ever

According to WAVY Meteorologist Ricky Matthews, an area of low pressure is expected to slide into our region Friday night into Saturday that will bring a lot of rain.

The Virginia Beach Parks & Rec Cherry Blossom Festival is an 8-day event. Next week’s events from March 25-30 are expected to resume as scheduled.

Event updates will be posted to Facebook.com/VBPARKSREC.

Last year’s Cherry Blossom activities on the first Saturday were also canceled because of the forecast.
