VASAI CHA MAHARAJA wins ‘Lokmanya Mahotsav’
Lokmanya Mahotsav’ is a year long movement organized by Government of Maharashtra, on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the the famous slogan, “Swarajya is my birthright and I shall have it!” One of the greatest freedom fighters, Tilak dreamt of Swarajya and fought for it. This movement aims to promote his vision for India, his character and his contribution through multiple activities and competitions.
There were a number of Ganeshotsav mandals participating in the competition to win the their spot including the famous Lalbaug Ganpati in Mumbai.
The competition came to an end on 15th September and the winner was chosen.
Apparently the top position was captured by Vasai Cha Maharaja, which is one of the oldest and most popular ganeshotsav Mandal in Vasai-Virar Region. They received 3063 votes to capture the top position in the competition.
Vasai Cha Maharaja belongs to Anand Nagar MitraMandal which is one of the oldest mandals in Vasai-Virar area. The only ganesh idol in Maharashtra which is fully dressed in original royal clothing with Feta, Sadra and Pitambar. The Idol is considered to be very holy and people stand in long queue to take darshan as there is a belief that the Vasai Cha Maharaja Fulfills your wishes if prayed with your heart.
The Idol is made by famous Vijay Khatu, who is a world famous idol Sculptor.
