Vandergrift Pool remains closed for repairs

Jul. 7—Poolside recreation is still out of reach for patrons of the Vandergrift Pool in Allegheny Township.

The Vandergrift Pool, officially named the Joseph A. Petrarca Memorial Pool, remains closed because of repairs required around its perimeter.

Borough Secretary Steve DelleDonne said Friday the pool committee is hopeful the repairs will be completed and the pool can reopen July 22 or the following week.

However, in a post on social media Friday, pool officials announced they could not give a "guesstimate" on a reopening date, for fear of further disappointing members.

The post further said that pool officials are not "hiding or being secretive" about the repair process.

DelleDonne said the pool is losing thousands of dollars in revenue.

He said the pool contractor completing the repairs as RenoSys Corp. of Indianapolis.

RenoSys, which installed the original liner at the pool at 1639 La Belle Vue Road, has not provided pool officials with an estimated finish time.

RenoSys could not be immediately reached for comment Friday.

Pool members seeking a refund for the 2023 pool season are asked to contact the borough office.

The pool will honor those members maintaining their membership into next summer's pool season.

"On behalf of our pool committee and staff, we apologize for this situation. It is honestly out of our control," the post stated.

The pool originally was expected to reopen during the first week of July.
