Vanderbilt baseball SEC tournament opponent revealed: See seed, schedule

Vanderbilt baseball will be the No. 8 seed in the SEC tournament and will face No. 9 seed Florida in the first round of the SEC tournament at approximately 4:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday in Hoover, Alabama.

All games except the championship game on Sunday will be televised on SEC Network.

The Commodores (35-20, 13-17 SEC) were part of a five-way tie for seventh in the conference with Alabama, Florida, South Carolina and LSU. Vanderbilt was seeded second among those five teams due to tiebreakers.

Although every team with 13 SEC wins and an RPI in the 20s, as the Commodores have at No. 26 in RPI, has made the NCAA tournament, the SEC has never gotten more than 10 teams in. With five teams at 13-17, all of which have the requisite top-30 RPI, it is likely that at least one of those teams will get left out. That makes the SEC tournament more important.

Vanderbilt defeated the Gators (28-26, 13-17), two games to one, in a series at Hawkins Field in April.
