Vancouver judge finds man guilty in over-dose death of two teen girls

VANCOUVER - A convicted sex offender has been found guilty of criminal negligence causing the deaths of two teenaged girls who died of overdoses.

Martin Tremblay was also found guilty of one count of obstruction of justice and not guilty of a second count in the March 2010 deaths in Metro Vancouver.

The courtroom erupted in cheers as the judge read his decision in front of dozens of family members and friends of the two girls, 17-year-old Martha Jackson and 16-year-old Kayla Lalonde.

Court heard the girls died of a lethal combination of drugs and alcohol which Tremblay provided.

Tremblay also faces seven other charges relating to sex crimes against teenaged girls in Vancouver's notorious Downtown Eastside.

Two years ago Vancouver Police included Tremblay on a list of men believed to be preying on women in the poverty-stricken neighbourhood where serial killer Robert Pickton once found his victims.
