Vancouver duplex fire, arcing power lines displace 6

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A fire at a Vancouver duplex and arcing power lines outside the home prompted response from emergency crews Friday evening, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Just after 10:30 p.m., crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 3508 X Street. The fire was related to the dangerous electrical discharge from the powerlines outside the house, so Clark Public Utilities were also called to assist, officials say.

On arrival, crews found the duplex on fire with reports of people still inside.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and did not find anyone inside the house at the time. However, six people were displaced as a result of the blaze, authorities say.
