Van Williams, TV’s Green Hornet, Dies at 82
Van Williams, who played the title character in the 1960s TV series “The Green Hornet,” has died at age 82, according to media reports.
The actor died of renal failure in Scottsdale, Ariz., on November 28.
Before his career-defining role as the fedora-wearing playboy superhero, the handsome 6-footer starred as bachelor private eye Kenny Madison on “Bourbon Street Beat.” He then reprised the same role for “Surfside 6.”
The actor would eventually hang it up as the 1970s gave way to the ’80s.

“The Green Hornet” was launched as a companion series to “Batman.” Williams’ signature show would last just 26 episodes.
Williams was born February 27, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas. He had two children with Drucilla Jane Greenhaw, whom he married in 1953 and divorced in 1956.
Williams later married Vicki Lenore Flaxman Richards in 1959. The couple had three children together, and the couple remained married until his passing.
Seth Rogen reprised the Williams role for the 2011 film version of “The Green Hornet.”
