‘Valentines for Veterans’ aims to warm hearts of local heroes in Central IL

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — State officials are encouraging Central and Southern Illinoisans to show their appreciation for local veterans this Valentine’s Day by sending them homemade cards.

Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced the launch of this year’s “Valentines for Veterans” program on Monday. Cards will be distributed to veterans throughout Illinois’ 13th Congressional District.

“Last year, it was so heartwarming to see our Valentines for Veterans program bring smiles to the faces of our local heroes,” Budzinski said. “I’m thrilled to be launching this program again to thank the veterans who have put their lives on the line to protect our country. I encourage folks from across Illinois’ 13th Congressional District to participate by mailing or dropping off homemade cards to my offices in Belleville, Champaign and Springfield.”

The submission deadline is Feb. 9. Until then, cards may be dropped off or mailed to any of Budzinski’s offices at her offices:
