Vacant Granite City workshop destroyed by fire

GRANITE CITY, Ill. — A building is considered a total loss after it was engulfed by a fire overnight. Firefighters responded to the scene on State Street around 7:20 p.m. Friday. The structure, an old workshop near the U.S. Steel plant, along with everything inside, was completely destroyed. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as the building was vacant at the time of the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
