Utility won't seek rate increase in W.Va., asks Va. regulators for 1.5 percent increase
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power won't seek a rate increase in West Virginia this year.
The subsidiaries of American Electric Power Co. made their plans known in their annual filing to the Public Service Commission of West Virginia on Monday.
This is the second year in a row Appalachian Power has not requested a rate increase. If the PSC agrees to Appalachian's proposal, rates will remain stable into 2014.
Last week, Appalachian Power announced it is seeking a 1.5 percent rate increase in Virginia. That request was filed with the State Corporation Commission.
The utility has about one million customers in West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee.
