Utah November foreclosure rate 16th in nation; activity up from previous month

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah's November foreclosure rate comes in at 16th highest in the nation.

Data released Thursday by RealtyTrac Inc. shows that one in every 886 Utah housing units saw a foreclosure filing in November. That's up 23 percent from October, but down 66 percent from last November.

The number of foreclosure starts in the state jumped 44 percent from October, and 10 percent from a year earlier.

RealtyTrac reports foreclosure filings nationwide were down 3 percent from October, and down 19 percent year-over-year.

Florida, Nevada, Illinois, California and South Carolina had the highest foreclosure rates in the nation in November.
