USPS Stamp Out Hunger

USPS Stamp Out Hunger

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — You might be wondering why there are mail crates attached to the bottom of your mailbox. Well, Saturday, is the annual USPS Stamp Out Hunger drive.

Mail carriers around the county will collect non-perishable food donations.

Executive Director of the Community Food Bank of Grand Junction Alisha Wenger tells WesternSlopeNow why events like these are so important.

“Here at the Community Food Bank, we serve anybody in need. It is not a financial basis, it is a self-declared needs basis, and so there is no thresholds to receive need from our end. I can’t speak to other agencies but most of the time here in Mesa County we’re really here to lift everyone up and support one another.”

Wenger says the Community Food Bank helps to feed nearly 6% of Mesa County Residents. If you would like to participate, please remember to put a bag of nonperishable food items in the basket.
